Summer is great: a time for grill outs, cold drinks, and days by the pool. What you don’t think about with summer is the hot humid nights in your stuffy bedroom trying to get some shut eye. Most people’s initial reaction is to crank up the air conditioning, but that can get awfully costly running your AC all summer; there has to be a better way. As with anything there is always the old fashioned way of getting the job done that doesn’t crank up your utility bill!

  • Sleep with light blankets and sheets: light cotton is said to be ideal because it allows the best ventilation but just make sure you don’t have anything too heavy to trap your body heat.
  • Lose some clothes: Sleeping in a light cotton shirt and a pair of shorts or underwear is great but if you want going down to your birthday suit is obviously going to provide the most airflow and cool you down best.
  • Get some fans: By arranging fans around your room in correlation with an open window can create quite the breeze and feel very soothing.
  • Freeze a water bottle: This trick is very old fashion but by simply freezing a water bottle, wrapping it in a towel, and shoving it down in the covers with you can decrease the temp dramatically.
  • Hang a wet sheet over the window: this trick speaks for itself, a sheet is light enough that you’ll still get airflow from outside but since it’s wet it will be nice and cool!
  • Put sheets in the freezer: By simply putting your sheets in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes before bed can give you at least a few minutes of chill temps.
  • Drink some ice water before bed: this is another trick that speaks for itself, by drinking ice water you’ll cool your body down quite a bit and after all water is just healthy in general so it definitely can’t hurt to try!

Hopefully by obeying some of these trick you’ll never have to suffer another night tossing, turning, and sweating yourself to sleep again.
