There is indeed such thing as too much of a good thing! Most all doctors would agree that a good night’s rest is essential for living a healthy life but when does it become too much? The average adult should get 7-9 hours of sleep every night. Oversleeping, believe it or not, can lead to health risks. Some health defects linked to oversleeping include diabetes and heart disease. A more common effect from oversleeping is a decrease in your social skills. When you spend too much time in bed asleep, you miss out on a lot of human interaction which greatly impacts your communication skills. People that tend to sleep too much do so because they don’t have anything to wake up for, having a job or being in school is often a natural cure for oversleeping because it gives you motivation to get up out of bed. Oversleeping doesn’t seem like a serious issue but many times oversleeping can be the result of depression. If that is you, oversleeping is not the source of your problem.
